Into Eternity is a Canadian progressive death metal band originating from Regina, Saskatchewan. Formed in 1996 by Tim Roth, Scott Krall, and Jim Austin, the band is known for fusing melodic and progressive metal elements with aggressive death metal influences. Their sound is characterized by thrashing riffs, neoclassical arrangements, power metal-style clean vocals, death growls, black metal shrieks, fast-paced drumming with blast beats, and occasional acoustic guitar interludes.

The band released their independent self-titled debut in 1999, later reissued after signing with Century Media Records. Their second album, Dead or Dreaming (2001), showcased a more integrated blend of progressive and death metal. This style continued to evolve through subsequent releases: Buried in Oblivion (2004), The Scattering of Ashes (2006), and the concept album The Incurable Tragedy (2008). In 2018, they returned with The Sirens, released under M-Theory Audio.

Into Eternity gained further recognition through notable tours, including 2006’s Gigantour and a 2007 North American tour with Dream Theater. Some of their music videos—such as “Spiraling into Depression” (2004), “Severe Emotional Distress” (2006), “Timeless Winter” (2007), and “Time Immemorial” (2008)—supported these albums’ themes of emotional turmoil, introspection, and existential reflection.

Their singles “Sandstorm” (2011) and “Fukushima” (2012) continued to showcase their aggressive yet melodic style. Despite the difficulty in categorizing their complex sound, Into Eternity is most commonly associated with the progressive death metal genre, known for its emotional intensity, technical proficiency, and diverse vocal styles.
